In 2020, we launched our inaugural grant program, the first initiative of our Real Impact community support program, awarding 25 grants to community-based organizations (CBOs) totaling $125,000 to support the ‘Real Impact’ objectives. This funding supported non-profit CBOs dedicated to serving patients and families impacted by sickle cell disease (SCD) and beta-thalassemia. The Real Impact grant awards provided support to groups in need across the country. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we increased the award amount by 25%, due to strong demand for COVID-19-related relief programs.

25 grants awarded across 15 states. $125K total grant funding. 2.8K families and more than 8,388 individuals impacted. 47 applications across 20 states. 5K total funding per grand awarded.

Grant sum awarded across three categories: $95,000 in COVID-19 Relief Grants. $20,000 in Social Health Impact Grants. $10,000 in Capacity Support Grants.
